Holiday decorating doesn't have to be expensive. Plus, it's not necessary to sacrifice beauty or class when decorating on a budget.

Holiday decorations can be quite expensive. However, it's very possible to utliize common household items to create a beautiful, classy decor that will compliment any home during the holidays.

Incorporate Natural Items

It's easy to find and use natural items in a home decor. Items like pine cones, fir tree limbs, pine needles, apples, and holly bush branches can be attained for little to nothing. These items are rich in holiday color and will look beautiful displayed in a vase, in a bowl, or along a mantle or staircase.

Display CandyCertain candies can make a beautiful centerpiece when displayed in a crystal bowl or vase. A bowl full of peppermints is beautiful and functionable. It's aso nice to layer colored M&Ms in a tall vase, which reveals a dramatic effect. Even hard, butterscotch candy can create a lasting, decorative impression by adorning a table top in gold.

Use Lights around the HouseMost people think that Christmas lights are only reserved for the Christmas tree or for outdoor decoration. However, that's not necessarily true. Arranged Christmas lights can make a beautiful accent to any room. Lights inside an empty wine pottle makes a beautiful mock-lamp. Lights can also be used to frame a curio cabinet, a bookshelf, or a china cabinet that displays Christmas decor items. As long as lights are used sparingly as accent pieces, then they definitely provide a home with holiday ambience.

Use Colored CandlesThere are Christmas candles, but they tend to be expensive. Instead, place red and green colored candles throughout the house. Colored candles can be bought at any time of the year. Not only can they be layered to provide indirect lighting, they also higlight other holiday decorations.

Use Wrapped Christmas PresentsAt Christmas time,. there never seems to be a shortage of wrapped Christmas presents. Although most of the gifts are placed under the tree, not all of them have to be. Layering wrapped gifts on shelves is classic and beautiful. Utilizing wrapped Chrismas gifts takes advantage of items that will already be available at Christmastime.

Use Fabric or Sheets for a Table ClothHoliday table cloths are really expensive. As an alternative, visit a fabric storre and pick out a holiday fabric that will look beautiful on the dining room table. In addition, buying a simple twin sheet makes a great tablecloth for a rectangular dining room table. Choose a sheet that is a deep red or green.

The best way to decorate for the holidays is to be creative and to have fun. In essence, it's the small accents that make a difference in the room, and these details can be added with ease and cost efficiency. Have fun with holiday decorating, and visitors will appreciate your holiday decor.
