Whether you are hosting an adult Halloween party or one for children, set the spooky mood with some of these creative invitation ideas.

From the moment your guests receive their invitations, you’ll want them to look forward to your upcoming Halloween party. Here are some ways to start the fun.

Spooky Halloween Invites

Is your party going to be held at your specially decorated Haunted House? If you’ve gone to the trouble of doing interior Halloween décor worthy of a Martha Stewart Halloween magazine spread, you’ll want your invite to reflect your level of commitment. Actually, Martha makes a spooktacular ‘finger’ reminder invitation kit. Also, if you search Halloween invitation coffins on Google, you’ll find a creative simple option: miniature mailable coffins to encapsulate your Halloween invites. Consider some miniature plastic spiders or ants inside the envelope as well.

Kids Party Invites

Many websites offer an amazing selection of Halloween invitations. You can order pre-printed invites or ones you fill out yourself. You can select anything from candy corny cute styles to very chic, high-end invites. Fine Stationery has one of the best selections. Or, simply make your own using pre-printed Halloween-edged paper. There are many free downloadable Halloween fonts from which to choose.

Extreme Halloween Invitations

Feeling creative? Why not make your own extreme invitation using miniature gravestones (each displaying the names of the invited guests) set onto a small piece of green Astroturf material resembling grass? Place the gravestone at the top of the ‘grass slab’ and attach a sheet with the invitation info.

Or, if you have a teen talented in the ways of Photoshop, you make the invite in the picture – a custom Ouija board invite. The one shown was made by scanning and altering an image of a real Ouija board and also using custom created ‘planchette’ stickers. Another extreme idea is to have a costumed ghoul hand-deliver your guests' invitations.

Invitation Wording

One great place to find wording for Halloween invites is to search the vintage Halloween postcards on ebay. Here are a few quick sample Halloween invitation wording options:

  • Come Dance to Thriller and the Monster Mash
  • Crawl on Over to Our Halloween Boo Bash
  • (date, time, place)
  • Your G(hosts): (name)
  • Ghosts and witches and monsters too
  • They’re all invited – and so are you!
  • Join Us If you Dare
  • Of Too Many Spirits We Must Beware

...also read more Halloween quotes and sayings for your invite.

Whether your invitation is going to be funny, elegant or spooky, have fun with it. If all else fails, you can always send a Halloween-themed evite to your boo bash!
