Let spring be your guide as you plan your Easter table settings and décor.

Your dining table is the perfect place to decorate for the Easter holiday. Since Easter comes with spring, take your decorating cues from the season and incorporate colors and elements of nature into your table setting. The ideas given here result in a look that is casual and chic, and it’s not at all fussy. It’s the perfect counterpoint to the fancy outfits and Easter bonnets sure to gather round the table come Easter Sunday.

Easter Table Settings

Your Easter table should look light and airy like the season it represents. This doesn’t mean banishing formal china from view; just incorporate other pieces to create a relaxed feel. A bare table tones down the formality, especially if you have a white or nice wood finish. With a clean base to work with, your Easter table settings really stand out. Try these ideas:

  • Custom paper placemats. Start with heavy cardstock in a pastel hue. Then, gather scrapbook or art paper in co-ordinating designs. You can use polka dots, toile, or Easter themes, just stick with your color scheme. Trim the pages to fit on top of the cardstock with a border of the solid color still showing.
  • Untraditional napkin rings. Wrap a piece of twine around each napkin. You can make a bow on top or stick the ends together underneath for a streamlined look. Tuck a fresh-cut flower, such as a tulip or daffodil, into the twine so it lies on the napkin. Sprigs of greenery work, too.

Easy Easter Centerpiece

This festive Easter centerpiece is a fun take on the traditional flower arrangement. Paint six terracotta pots all the same color, such as pale yellow or mint green. Stencil or freehand one letter on each pot so that when placed in a row they will spell out E-A-S-T-E-R. Do this on two sides so guests on both sides of the table can read the word. Use flowers of your choice in the pots, place reindeer moss along the edges, and add Easter eggs or decorative bunnies for extra style.

Place Card Easter Craft

A traditional place card, which tends to lend an air of formality to a table setting, may seem a bit out of place for this casual look. Instead, try a monogram Easter egg to personalize the spaces where your guests will sit. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • dyed Easter eggs, one for each guest
  • paper tags
  • alphabet stickers or rubber stamps
  • ribbon
  • hole punch
  • hot glue gun

Use the stickers or stamps to make each guest’s monogram on a paper tag. If you have small letters, you can even spell out their entire first name. Then, punch a hole in the corner of the tags, string a piece of ribbon through the hole (measure around the egg first to see how much you’ll need), and wrap it around an egg securing with a dab of hot glue. Place the eggs in eggcups or on top of the plates at each person’s table setting.
