On one hand, shopping for the perfect holiday Christmas gifts is a time of great stress for most people. Going to the mall or boutiques, running into other people who are doing the same, it's not fun. The weather might not play along either and most of the shoppers are actually stressed out due to lack of time. Christmas shopping for family and friends is a chore.
On the other hand, there is an underlying dread of buying the wrong type of gifts. Everybody is different and has different needs and wants. Mothers need different gifts from wives and husbands expect something different from teenage children. A girlfriend has completely different ideas of what her first Christmas gift from her loved one will be, while a small child is writing consciously and expectantly his first letter to Santa.

The main thing one needs to have in minis d that everybody is different and it is important to know the other person a bit in order to better estimate what their wants might be. Also there are often times various signals given by the partners. Those long eyes at the boutique while smelling the latest perfume while the time seems to stop right there in the shop, should be a signal that the wife, or girlfriend would love to have that very perfume as a gift for Christmas.
It is important to know more about the hobbies and other interests of the person to be gifted. If the husband or father has a hobby in electronics, the latest gadget from Amazon.com (which is always up to date with what is 'in' right now) should solve the problem right away.

One of the latest trends of the last few years is online shopping for gifts. This is a godsend for many reasons. First of all, it saves on shopping time. Everybody can find online everything that is also available at the local overcrowded mall, and many times cheaper as well. Around Christmas, stress is at maximum, and every effort to minimize it is worth it. Also speaking of crowds, not everybody loves bumping in every Dick and Harry along the way. People are in a rush and many times don't even look around when they are taking those long strides in getting where they want to go.
Online shopping solves all this by enabling shopping from the comfort of the home. Sitting on the couch with the laptop in front, without the rush and hassle of real life shopping will clear the mind and stop everyone from making mistakes. It is a well known fact that shopping for Christmas gifts in the last few minutes is bound to either yield the wrong gift or give no gift at all, when all is out. Online Christmas shopping can be done any time, even as early as October.
Depending on the location, there is plenty of time for the delivery even from the other end of the globe. Australia can shop from American stores and get the Christmas gift baskets delivered within 2-3 weeks at normal airmail rates. Brits can shop from a store in Paris and get their stuff within 3 days. Everything is possible nowadays and this is why online shopping is a major past time for everyone, from the teenagers to grandmothers who want to surprise their grandchildren with the latest iPod.
So Christmas gift shopping should not be a chore. It can actually be a very pleasant activity. Many times parents spend a nice afternoon together shopping at Amazon.com or other online places to buy their children the latest gadgets or online games that will make the kids' eyes sparkle and faces lighten up with delight and pure joy.
