Looking for something original and interesting to wear for Halloween? These fun costume ideas are great for trick-or-treating and attending Halloween parties.
Use puns and play-on-words to create fun and creative costumes for Halloween. The following ideas are also easy to do and inexpensive. Choose from one of these “punny” ideas for a Halloween costume this October 31st. Barbecue Barbie OutfitBarbie dolls are key to this costume which is a play on the word “barbecue.” For Halloween, this would be the“Barbie-Q” outfit. Go to Value Village or other second hand stores and pick up some Barbie dolls. There also might be some Barbies kicking around the house already. If feeling up to it, a person can actually burn the Barbie dolls, but another choice is to smear the dolls with black paint or black shoe polish to make them look burnt. Find a plain cooking apron, T-shirt or dress and sew the Barbie dolls on by using their clothes to anchor them on to the fabric. Paint on with fabric paint or use a marker to put a big Q on the top. Alternatively, black tape could be used to create the letter “Q”. Wear oven mitts and carry barbecue equipment like tongs or metal spatula. Wear a “Slinky” DressFor this outfit, what is needed is a dress of any kind. It can be sexy or full-body covering. The key to this costume is to buy some slinky toys – those toys that are tube-like coils and can go up and down stairs. There are metal and plastic ones, the plastic ones are lighter to wear and come in many colors. Get at least half a dozen and stretch and sew them around the dress. One can be also worn around the neck like a “scarf.” Go as a Heart BreakerBe a heart breaker for Halloween. Use old Valentine cards and heart-shaped candy boxes and cut them in half with jagged “lightning” liked edges. Glue, staple or sew them on to an old shirt or jacket, preferably a red or pink one. Make heart-shaped glasses with red pipe cleaners. Then cut up hearts from construction paper and use a black pen to make jagged edges that “cut” the heart in two. Use these hearts to make a “skirt” or just pin them all a pair of pants. They can also be stuck to a hat or taped on to barrettes and pinned to the hair. Use red face paint or red lipstick to draw broken hearts on one’s cheeks. Raining Cats and DogsThis is a good outfit for a rainy Halloween. Get small stuffed toy cats and dogs and tie them on strings. Then tie the toy animals on to the spokes of an umbrella. If there isn’t enough stuffed dogs and cats lying about the house, draw them on paper and cut them out. Another idea is to search for images of cats and dogs online and print them off. If it truly is expected to rain cats and dogs on Halloween, it might be a good idea to get the cat and dog images laminated if the outfit is for trick-or-treating outside. To finish off the costume, the person can wear a raincoat, rain boots and even a rain hat. These are costumes that are funny and original and sure to get the wearer noticed while at their Halloween party or out trick-or treating.
