Combine all three things, and you get one amazing party filled with the spirit of Halloween and magic of Harry Potter. It’s a simple formula sure to bring smiles to the young and old alike.
The Party Plan
First things first, the requirement to read Harry Potter books or see the movies is a must for the party planner. Without understanding the world of witches, wizards and muggles, it’s simply not possible to produce a party without this knowledge.
If having the party in a home, arrange several of the books and movies around the home to include with the typical Halloween décor. Arrange pumpkins, broomsticks and other fall-inspired items with Harry Potter memorabilia and party gear.
While you're at it, add a little green to your holiday, making Halloween environmentally-friendly and fun. Harry and his magical friends would definitely approve.
The Menu
If kids and adults are both in the mix for the party, create a menu with tasty appetizers and drinks that are friendly for all ages. Serve cheese dip and chips along with a variety of finger foods like sausage stars and veggies with ranch dip.
For the kid’s drinks, fill a crock-pot with apple cider and mulling spices to make a warm spiced cider. Get creative with drink choices, offering non-alcoholic punches with Harry Potter-twists to the names of the drink like: Polyjuice Potion, Pumpkin Juice or Magical Muggle Brew.
For the adults, mix up a few cocktails and give them fun names like Hermione’s Potion, Wizard’s Wine or Bewitching Brew. Also, serve fall-time brews such as Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale, Abita Pecan Ale, Rogue Mocha Porter or Sam Adams Octoberfest.
Harry Potter Party Time
Invite guests to get into the spirit of Halloween and dress up as characters from Harry Potter. Get wigs, robes, scarves, witch hats, magical wands, broom sticks and other attire from your nearby Halloween costume outlet.
Turn on some ghoulish tunes or the Harry Potter motion picture soundtracks, and dance the night away with friends and family. Quote lines and magical spells from the books and have fun getting into the Harry Potter spirit.
Watch movies one through five from start to finish, which are all available on DVD, and end the night with some spiced cider and a game of Harry Potter Clue. Most importantly, enjoy the magical world of Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and all of the excitement that Harry Potter has to offer on this magical holiday!
