Have you always wanted to host a St. Patrick's Day Party, but weren't sure how? Check out these fun party ideas, including invitations, decor, menu tips and more!

Want to avoid the crowded bars and restaurants on St. Patrick's Day? Why not host a St. Patty's Day party? Whether you are inviting family, friends or even co-workers, this is a day where everyone can be Irish; all you need is a little creativity and a willingness to have fun! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

St. Patrick's Day Party Invitations

Your wild side can really shine in choosing your invitations; remember, this is all about fun! You can make your invitations, including pictures of Irish-themed elements, such as leprechauns and shamrocks. You can print them on green paper, or just use green ink. You can also find cute, affordable pre-made invitations at your local party supply store. Remind your guests to wear green, or once they arrive, give them a St. Patty's Day themed button, hat, or beads to wear!

St. Patrick's Day Party Decorations

If it's green, then you can use it! Use green streamers, green balloons; you can even make and cut out shamrocks or four leaf clovers! Dim the lights and set out green candles. You can also purchase St. Patrick's Day confetti, in which you can sprinkle on tables and countertops. Purchase a CD of traditional Celtic music, and have it playing in the background. If you are planning a sit down dinner, instead of traditional place card settings, use little "pots of gold" or miniature leprechauns to hold your guests' name cards.

St. Patrick's Day Party Food

Your party wouldn't be complete without a traditional Irish menu! Here is a list from The History Channel to get you started:

  • Irish Soda Bread with Raisins
  • Corned Beef and Cabbage
  • Irish Brown Bread
  • Beef and Guinness Pie
  • Irish Cream Chocolate Mousse Cake

St. Patrick's Day Party Drinks

Really want to get in the spirit of the Irish? Why not make some unique beverages? From green beer to Irish classics, here are a few fun St. Patty 's Day drink recipe ideas from Drink of the Week:

  • Four Leaf Cloverita
  • Leprechaun
  • Celtic Mix
  • Everybody's Irish
  • Irish Flag #1

St. Patrick's Day Party Entertainment

If you really want to have an authentic evening, try hiring traditional Irish Dancers to perform at your party. In most metropolitan areas, there are professional Irish Dance studios in which they will perform for free or a low fee. Check your local area for more information.

As you can see, there is no end to what you can plan for your St. Patrick's Day soiree. Above all else, remember: as long as you have plenty of good food, good drinks, and good company, your St. Patrick's Day celebration will be a success!
