How to Make Creative and Inexpensive Adult Female Costumes

With these inexpensive and easy costume ideas, women of all ages can use their imaginations and get creative this holiday. From a U.S.S. Enterprise crewman to a flirty school girl, these homemade costumes will be perfect for this year's Halloween festivities.
Star Trek
The legendary series Star Trek offers a great costume for women, whether they are "Trek" fans or simply looking for a cheap and easy costume for Halloween. Start by wearing a sleeveless black top, where the collar comes up to the bottom of the neck. Layer this with a short sleeved, V-neck dress of a solid color that comes down to mid-thigh. If needed, retail stores such as Wal-Mart or the Goodwill should sell inexpensive options for the dress.
Color choices for the dress should be jewel-toned and can include red, blue, green, yellow, or purple. Hair should be pulled up into a "pony tail" on the top of the head. Black boots are appropriate. The Star Trek symbol can be made out of cardboard and painted gold. The symbol is attached to the top left corner of the dress and this costume is complete!
Nurse
This is probably the easiest costume to attain. All that is needed is a set of scrubs, or pajamas that look like scrubs, and flat tennis shoes, preferably white. Adding a clip board, name tag, and stethoscope would also be appropriate and might help to further identify this costume. Scrubs can be found inexpensively online and at most Wal-Marts, Walgreens, and other retail outlets.
School Girl
This costume can be as realistic or flirty as the wearer chooses. A plaid skirt of desired length and a white collared shirt are needed for this outfit. Next, the wearer should put on white knee-high socks or white stockings. Black Mary Jane style shoes would be appropriate, but any dark shoe would suffice. Hair can be worn in a variety of ways, including in "pig tails" or down with a headband. One addition that might be considered is carrying a school book as well.
Wilma, from The Flintstones
Wilma is a beloved character whose clothing can be easily imitated this Halloween. The main piece to this costume is the knee-length white dress. Depending upon sewing abilities, creating this dress would not be a difficult task. If sewing is being avoided, a white dress in a variety of styles can be found in many retail clothing stores. A zigzag design should be cut into the hem of the dress if attempting an accurate portrayal of this character.
The official Wilma wig is sold online by many costume supply stores. This look could also be achieved by using orange spray to color hair once it has been secured into a bun on the top of the head. The necklace can be created by stringing together medium sized Styrofoam balls, or gluing them to a choker necklace.
