Spice things up for the annual holiday party by trying one of these unique holiday party ideas.

  1. Potluck dinner for singles. Invite five single friends over for a potluck dinner and have each of one of them invite one single friend of the opposite sex. Meet new people and mingle during appetizers. Who knows? Somebody might find love.
  2. Ten dollar gift exchange. Invite friends and family to a ten dollar gift exchange party. Each person should try to buy the best present for less than ten dollars. Have each person draw a name out of a hat upon entering the party and exchange gifts after dinner.
  3. Wine and cheese party. Go to the local discount wine shop and buy a few bottles of wine and stop by the grocery store to buy different varieties of cheese. Invite five to ten friends over and have each person bring their favorite bottle of wine. This is a fun and fairly inexpensive party idea.
  4. Christmas sweater party. Get the camera ready for this party. Everyone wears the tackiest Christmas sweater they can find. Search the local thrift shops to find one if you don’t have one occupying space in your closet.
  5. Ladies only dinner. Invite your girlfriends to a “naughty” gift exchange party. Each woman should bring lingerie or sex toys for the exchange. This is a great idea for women who want to spice up their annual women’s holiday get together.
  6. Dollar store holiday party. Has the state of the economy ruined your holiday? Try this cheap and cheerful holiday party idea. Each invitee has to bring a basket purchased at the dollar containing five items bought at the dollar store. Everyone draws a number which determines the order that people pick their baskets. The person who drew the number one gets to pick his/her basket first. No one can pick their own basket!
  7. Charity holiday party. Each person should bring twenty dollars to the holiday party to donate to a charity. Each invitee is allowed to make an argument for the charity that they feel should receive the money and all guests vote which charity will be the recipient of the donation.
  8. Ornament party. Instead of exchanging presents, have each person bring a Christmas ornament to exchange. Have a tree set up so that each invitee can hang his/her ornament on the tree when they arrive at the party.
  9. Ethnic food party. This party idea is ideal for a diverse group of people who want to learn about other cultures. Have each person bring a dish that they serve during the holidays and recipe cards that people can take with them when they leave.
  10. Gentlemen’s party. Get the guys together for a cigar and scotch party. Draw names to exchange the cigars. Add a poker game to make things more interesting.
