- Potluck dinner for singles. Invite five single friends over for a potluck dinner and have each of one of them invite one single friend of the opposite sex. Meet new people and mingle during appetizers. Who knows? Somebody might find love.
- Ten dollar gift exchange. Invite friends and family to a ten dollar gift exchange party. Each person should try to buy the best present for less than ten dollars. Have each person draw a name out of a hat upon entering the party and exchange gifts after dinner.

- Charity holiday party. Each person should bring twenty dollars to the holiday party to donate to a charity. Each invitee is allowed to make an argument for the charity that they feel should receive the money and all guests vote which charity will be the recipient of the donation.
